The three scholarship recipients also received a congratulatory letter
from the Richmond Branch. Trudy Morse, one of our teachers, took
several photos for the media. Jocelyn Kwong, a Grade 7 Elementary
student, accompanied the singing of Oh
Canada to commence our Canada Music Week Recital.
About the Scholarship Contributor
Linda Niamath was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. She has enjoyed
composing since the age of five, when she started piano lessons. She
holds an ARCT in Piano Performance from The Royal Conservatory of Music
and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of British
Columbia. As a music specialist, she taught elementary school in
Vancouver before establishing her own private studio.
While focusing primarily on composing for young pianists, Linda Niamath
has also written for ballet and animated films. She has a keen interest
in early childhood education, believing in the importance of
introducing all young children to the joys of music making.
Recognized as one of North America’s leading pedagogical composers,
Linda Niamath continues to write albums of descriptive pieces to aid
young pianists in the development of their technical and interpretive
skills. (Source: Frederick Harris Music)
