Recitals

Currently, volunteer Richmond Branch members run recitals on a monthly basis. Members can give their students the opportunity to perform in a more formal setting. Our association hands out plaques for the highest mark for the session, per grade. The next recital dates will be listed presently.

Recital venue: Richmond Presbyterian Church, 7111 No 2 Road (Just south of Granville)

Use of cameras and video recorders is at the discretion of the recital committee and the recital host. No flash cameras allowed during the performance. Students bringing photocopied music will not be allowed to perform on that day. Host will announce this at the beginning of each recital. Appropriate attire is required for all recitals. No torn or sloppy T-shirts or jeans, and no runners. As of Sept 1st, 2008, performances will be prohibited unless dress code is observed.

Senior (Grade 10 - ARCT Level) Piano Masterclass, February 27th, 2011

Ms. Janet Scott Hoyt biography
Alberta-born pianist Janet Scott Hoyt is a performer and pedagogue with a wealth of experience on the concert stage and in the teaching studio. During the course of her career, she has performed with many internationally renowned artists, including flautist Robert Aiken and cellist Shauna Rolston. Among her many performances are premieres of works by composers such as Violet Archer, Malcolm Forsyth, and Oskar Morawetz.

Janet Scott Hoyt was named to the piano faculty of the Department of Music at the University of Alberta in 1998 where she now supervises a graduate program in piano pedagogy. She has also served as a faculty member for Augustana University College and the L.I.S. Summer School at the Hochschule Fur Musik in Detmold, Germany. She is in great demand as adjudicator, coach and workshop clinician.
